Professor Neal Dreamson of the Department of Technology and Society was appointed as a National Curriculum Expert Committee member of the National Education Commission on October 23, 2025.

The National Education Commission is an administrative committee under the President that establishes a mid- to long-term vision and policy direction for education based on social consensus; it also gathers and coordinates public opinion on education policies. Its purpose is to contribute to the development of education by safeguarding independence, expertise, and political neutrality in education and enhancing trust in public education.

Candidates for the curriculum expert committee are selected from among experts who have extensive knowledge and experience in the field of education; they are then appointed as a member with the consent of a majority of the National Education Commission's members. The term of office for members is two years (Professor Dreamson’s term is October 23, 2025 – June 29, 2027), and is renewable once. Their primary role is to provide expert reviews and opinions on key education-related issues.

Professor Dreamson attended the 9th meeting of the National Curriculum Expert Committee, held at the Government Complex, Seoul, on October 29th. He reviewed and evaluated the Ministry of Education's proposed 2022 high school credit system reform plan and the development of a draft revised textbook. Due to the urgency of the recent controversial reform of the high school credit system, the committee has a very busy schedule.
