Michelle Chaewon Bak received her Ph.D. in Information Sciences from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and conducted postdoctoral research at the Hasso Plattner Institute in Germany. She received her B.A. in Sociology, with a minor in Digital Humanities, from the University of California, Los Angeles. She also spent time in Amsterdam working on human-centered mental health communication, including the design of visual communication tools to support patient engagement.
