    Important Notes for ICT Specialization

    • Generally, for ICT specialization, the following courses are required to be completed with a C or higher:
      • EST 205, EST 230, EST 310, EST 320, EST 371 or EST 372, ESE 123 or ISE 218, CSE 114
    • EST 371 and EST 372 only offer at SUNY Korea
    • ISE courses are not offered at SUNY Korea (can be taken via SBU online).
    • If the student wants to take ESE 123, they are required to have a meeting with the DTS coordinator. The student is required to submit a consent form for the course enrollment and approval from the course instructor to the department during the meeting. Since the course is conducted from outside of the department, the department cannot guarantee its seats regardless of whether it is required.

    Important Notes for CS Specialization

    • Generally, for CS specialization, the following courses are required to be completed with a C or higher:
      • CSE 101, CSE 114, CSE 214, ISE 218, CSE 310 or ISE 316, CSE 337 or ISE 337, ISE 305
    • To take upper-level CSE courses, the student needs to declare a CS minor.
    • ISE courses are not offered at SUNY Korea but in SBU or SBU online.

    Important Notes for AMS Specialization

    • Generally, for AMS specialization, the following courses are required to be completed with a C or higher:
      • AMS 210, AMS 261, AMS 301, AMS 310, AMS 315, AMS: Upper Level, AMS: Upper Level
    • For students seeking a deeper understanding of AMS, pursuing a double major is advised rather than a minor.
    • At SUNY Korea, AMS 315 appears to be offered only in the spring semester. This needs to be confirmed with the AMS department.

Important Academic Advising Notes

  • Major Declaration: Students are highly recommended to officially declare their specialization before the start of their sophomore year.
  • Prerequisite Policy: Students should strictly follow all prerequisites. Please verify all course prerequisites in the official catalog before registration. Taking courses out of order may delay graduation.
  • Grade Requirements: All core major courses and specialization-required tracks must be completed with a grade of a C or higher to satisfy graduation benchmarks.
