Leave of Absence & Graduation Requirements
Taking a leave of absence after your BS graduation will prevent you from continuing your BSMS program.
If you are required to take a gap year before starting your MS program, you must contact the SUNY Korea TS Department and the graduate coordinator at the SBU TS Department.

MS Degree Credit & 4-Semester Timeline Regulations
MS students must complete their required curriculum and balance core credits within 4 semesters to secure timely graduation approval.
4-Semester Timeline: In some cases, students might be eligible to complete their program less than 4 semesters, depends on their catalog year and offered courses.

PhD Milestone & Preliminary Examination Deadlines
Ph.D. candidates in Technology, Policy, and Innovation (TPI) are required to visit SBU to fulfill their required courses (SOC/POL 501 and SOC/POL 502) as well as residency requirements based on Fall 2026 catalog.
Advancement to Candidacy: Granted only after successfully passing all requirements and submitting all necessary documentation.
